The Woodcote Stud was started by my late father, Peter Fullerton, in 1985.
In 2015, I was lucky enough to get a crack at the family farm, and I now lease the farm with my fiancée, Eleanor. I’m currently milking 525 cows on 160 hectares in Te Kawa, Waikato, with a 100% autumn-calving herd.
We grow 65–70 hectares of maize on the farm, with PKE (Palm Kernel Expeller), tapioca, soya bean, and DGG grain being the imported concentrates.
A few of our consistent family lines are the Cherry’s, Lara’s, Gorji, and Mel families. A big focus in the last few years has been getting cows to last longer while not compromising production.
Standout sires over the last couple of years have been Everton and Alcove.
If you are ever in the area and want to see the cows, you are more than welcome to.
